Ernesto and Steven

A good friend of mine is a meditation buddy, and our mutual friend from college now leads soundbaths all over the world. On an ayahuasca retreat in south america, she met Ernesto – a journalist for the New York Times who had just written a book about ayahuasca retreats. Ernesto was proposing to Steven in San Francisco and needed a photographer to catch it all, and so I had the distinct honor of being the lens for these two. Ernesto had hired *a femme Mariachi band* which just absolutely blew everyone out of the water. As the pacific ocean waves lapped up the beach behind them, Ernesto and Steven were serenaded. At one point Ernesto sang a meaningful song to Steven, and the two of them exchanged heartfelt words.

Their story was a pandemic love story. The kind where it seems like fate has quite literally pushed two people together. Regardless, it was an honor to spend time hearing about their lives and making images of them with the mariachi band on Baker beach.
