I help couples document their love

Queer Wedding Photographer In New Orleans

WHIT FORRESTER

Hello, I'm

I documented my own wedding in 2018, turning the images and footage into a Lana Del Rey music video.

It taught me how poetic and beautiful these ceremonies could be, and that we're ultimately free to build them however we want.

I got my first camera, my dad's old Nikon, in 7th grade, and I never really put it down. That thread carried through a photography degree, years teaching both analog and digital photography as a college professor, and working as a fine art photographer with an international exhibition record. I bring nearly twenty years of knowing how light, film, and attention actually work.

I came back to wedding photography because I love client work. Plus, weddings are fun! I like watching all the people interact and meet, and I feel energized by the work. Documenting someone's love, their people… It's work I look forward to.

As an artist

I find weddings full of opportunities to make interesting photographs.

I always meet couples before the wedding, even if it's just a FaceTime call, since I want to know you a little before I spend your most important day a few feet away from you with a camera. I shoot on both film and digital, depending on what the day calls for. You'll receive 500 to 800 images, delivered within 6 to 8 weeks.

As a queer wedding photographer based in New Orleans, running a queer-owned, inclusive studio is at the center of how I work. I love capturing gay and LGBTQ couples across Louisiana, and I’ll travel anywhere your story takes us.

I've also been a practicing astrologer for 15 years. If you're curious, I offer portrait sessions built around the synastry between your charts: a way of turning what's already true about your connection into something you can hold. Ask me about it.
