I help couples document their love

Queer Wedding Photographer and Optimist

WHIT FORRESTER

Hello, I'm

I documented my own in 2018, making a Lana Del Rey music video with the images and footage.

It taught me how poetic and beautiful these ceremonies could be, and that we are ultimately able to make them however and whatever we want.

I got my first camera — my dad's old Nikon film SLR — in 7th grade, and I never really put it down. That thread ran through a photography degree and years teaching both analog and digital photography as a college professor, and working as a fine artist with an international exhibition record.  Which means I bring close to two decades of knowing how light, film, and attention actually work.

I came back to weddings recently, mainly because I love client work, I love the specific kind of trust it takes for someone to hand you their day, and I am, genuinely and without exaggeration, energized by it. Documenting someone's love, their people, their one unrepeatable afternoon — it's the work I look forward to.

Also . . . I like to be good at what I do.  : )

As an artist

I find weddings full of opportunities to make interesting photographs

I always meet couples before the wedding, even if it's just a FaceTime call — I want to know you a little before I spend your most important day a few feet away from you with a camera. I shoot on both film and digital, depending on what the day calls for. You'll get 500–800 images, delivered in 6–8 weeks.

I'm based in New Orleans, and I'll travel anywhere your story takes us.
Also — I've been a practicing astrologer for 15 years. If you're curious, I offer portrait sessions built around the synastry between your charts: a way of turning what's already true about your connection into something you can hold. Ask me about it.
