Easily one of the most beautiful examples of how community can come together around ceremony. We started off in a field, upon which at a certain critical maximum moment that is hard to pin down or describe, people began walking in a circle with banners. This then began a parade with a music system, which went through the park, to a central amphitheatre where ribbons were sewn together, and then strung from a pole to make a maypole. A ceremony was had, commitments were made, and then the pole was danced and woven. The meals were cooked collectively by friends, the party was DJ’ed collectively, the entire event then moved to the beach where more food was had and some people swam.
All in the most beautiful of redwood woodland settings.
